Enhance an electric guitar part with a doubled acoustic

Lets say you want to give an electric guitar part a fuller sound or more “feel”.

One way to achieve this is by recording a double of the electric guitar part on an acoustic guitar.

  1. On a new track, record a double of the electric guitar part on an acoustic guitar i.e. play the exact same part on the acoustic as you would on the electric.
  2. Pan your electric guitar left or right.
  3. Leave the acoustic guitar centred in the mix and blend it in until you just start to hear it. Remember the idea here is to enhance or add to the electric guitar track.
