Get a world class de-esser for under $10

If you’re using Microsoft Windows, there are quite a few free de-essers available. Noteworthy options being DSP Lisp or Tonmann DeEsser.

Free de-essers for Mac OS aren’t that easy to come by. Thankfully, Computer Music magazine have come to the rescue.

Issue 226 “Stereo Science” (February 2016) comes with a free download of ToneBoosters TB Sibilance CM. This cut down version of TB Sibalance uses the same algorithms and provides a clean and simple user interface. While it may be lacking in-depth controls, it’s certainly up to the job of taming a sibilant vocal.
